New biobased partnership starts

Council Regulation (EU) 2021/2085 of 19 November 2021 has established the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU). This is a €2 billion partnership between the European Union and the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC) that funds projects advancing competitive circular bio-based industries in Europe.

Multi-track investment for CordenPharma

Indorama launches SDG-linked report

Indorama Ventures (IVL) has become the first company in Thailand to publish a report lined to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This came shortly after the firm launched a THB 10 billion (€260 million) sustainability-linked bond (SLB).

Cascades picks Kemira

Packaging giant Cascades has chosen Kemira as the primary chemical supplier for the Bear Island mill in Virginia, which it is converting to produce lightweight 100% recycled linerboard and medium grades. This is due to be completed by the end of 2022 and to have 465,00 tonnes/year of capacity when in full operation.

Cabot exits purification

Cabot has agreed to sell its Purification Solutions business, which makes activated carbon for a wide range of applications, to private equity firm One Equity Partners. President and CEO Sean Keohane said that this “will allow us to focus resources on our core business segments and invest in areas where we see strong future growth and innovation potential for Cabot, such as battery materials”.
