Aceto has acquired A&C Bio Buffer, a GMP manufacturer of custom buffer and chemical blends for the manufacture of biopharmaceutical drug products. This follows the acquisition earlier this year of A&C, a US manufacturer of GMP speciality excipients and custom process systems that had owned the Irish facility until then.

Based in Limerick, Ireland, A&C manufactures over 50 products including biological buffers, process solutions, cleaning solutions and water for injection. It has recently been involved in the raw material supply chain for COVID-19 vaccines. Terms were not disclosed.

This brings the total of acquisitions speciality life science materials player Aceto has made since being bought out of bankruptcy in 2019 to six. The others were:

* Syntor Fine Chemicals, a UK-based, largely virtual manufacturer of fine chemicals for pharmaceutical and other life sciences markets, in April 2020

* IsleChem, a US firm active chemical manufacturing, contract R&D, analytical services, and technical and support services in December 2020

* Cascade Chemistry, a CDMO that makes APIs, regulatory starting materials and advanced intermediates with services in synthetic route optimisation, process development and scale-up, in May 2021

* Finar, an Indian-based supplier of pharmaceutical ingredients and laboratory chemicals, also in May 2021
