Huber switches on solar array

J.M. Huber has completed the set-up of a 1.8megawatt (DC), ground-mounted solar array located at the Huber Engineered Materials (HEM) Fire Retardant Additives Marblehead facility in Quincy, Illinois. The facility is now receiving more than 60% of its power from the array during daylight hours.

The array, which was supplied by SolAmerica, has over 4,900 photovoltaic panels and should produce 2.4 million KWh/year, saving about 1,700 tonnes of CO2 emissions. The company said that this supports its general goal of reducing energy and water use intensity and CO2 emissions by 10% by 2022.
