International Process Plants & Equipment (IPP) has acquired GEO Specialty Chemicals’ facility in Allentown, Pennsylvania, via its North Cedar Crest Redevelopment affiliate. This brings the number of complete plant sites that IPP and its affiliates currently own globally to 20. It will now seek to repurpose the plant, which manufactured a variety of resins and coatings until ceasing operations in June 2024.

The company said that the 38-hectare site in the Lehigh Valley “includes robust chemical production capabilities and a variety of process equipment that can be adapted for multiple industrial applications”, as well as good road and rail connections. IPP also acquired a 16-hectare brownfield site in Springhill, Louisiana, from GEO, which is a division of CPS Performance Materials.
