IMCD has in short order acquired the South Korean distributor YCAM and Chinese distributor Daoqin. Both deals should be complete in Q2, subject to customary closing conditions. Terms were not disclosed in either case.
Anyang-based YCAM distributes speciality ingredients for the cosmetics, personal care and pharmaceutical markets, with technical and laboratory support. It had sales of about €17 million in 2023 and eight employees. Daoqin, meanwhile, is active in the food, personal care and pharmaceutical industries, employing 21 and turning over €16 million.
In addition, IMCD is expanding its Pharmaceuticals Technical Centre in Jakarta, Indonesia, to serve as the hub for pharmaceutical development across Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Features will include a climatic chamber for stability testing, spectrophotometry, a fluid bed processor for multi-particulate drug delivery systems and advanced coating processes.
Outside Asia, IMCD has opened two new expert facilities in the UK: a centre of excellence for hair care and toiletries in the EMEA region and a beauty studio for skincare in the UK market. There will become part of a worldwide network of 13 beauty studios, 16 application laboratories, including three in the UK, and five centres of excellence.
