Azelis has launched its new sustainability programme, Impact 2030. This broadens the scope of action to include full-scale and Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)-guided targets for emission reduction.

“Customers will be able to make better choices with more product transparency, while principals will accelerate the execution of their own sustainability strategies”, the company claimed. Impact 2030 will seek to build on the best practices and achievements of the previous sustainability programme, Action 2025, which achieved its Scope 1 and 2 targets three years ahead of schedule. During this time, carbon intensity was reduced by 33.2% compared to the 2019 baseline, surpassing the initial target of 25%.

The new programme will cover Scopes 1-3 emission and will also include a portfolio sustainability assessment aimed at providing transparency around sustainable products and extending the sustainability focus to include procurement as well as products.

Impact 2030 is built around four key pillars of portfolio, environment, people and governance. Each features specific goals and key performance indicators that contribute to selected UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Further details will be outlined in March.

This follows on from the news that Azelis had received a new rating from ESG research, ratings and data firm Morningstar Sustainalytics of 11.7. This places it in the second percentile in the trading and distribution industry and brings its ESG risk score down by 0.2 points. The assessment confirmed Azelis’ reduced overall risk thanks to “its low exposure and strong management of material ESG issues”.
