CDMO Granules India has agreed to acquire Senn Chemicals, as Swiss specialist in liquid- and solid-phase peptide synthesis in a deal that should close within 1H, subject to regulatory approvals. Terms were not disclosed.

The two companies have already been collaborating on two GLP-1-based APIs for anti-diabetic and anti-obesity therapeutics, a booming area in which Granules wants to expand. “By integrating Senn’s expertise, Granules aims to strengthen its position in contract manufacturing and enhance its R&D-driven peptide platform,” the firm said.

Senn operates an ISO 9001:2015-certified facility, which complies with cGMP standards. This is regularly inspected by Swissmedic and thus are recognised by the US FDA under the two countries’ mutual recognition agreement. It is active in the cosmetics, amino acid derivatives and theragnostic markets in addition to pharmaceuticals.
