WeylChem has announced that it is investing a sum “in the range of high single-digit millions euros” to upgrade a multi-purpose plant at the site of its Allessa custom and toll manufacturing subsidiary in Frankfurt-Fechenheim, Germany. This is due in operation in 2H 2012.
The investment will keep halogen exchange technology in the group portfolio to supply European customers, while also transforming an existing production asset into “a state-of-the-art multi-purpose production unit with added capacity and advanced flexibility”, the company said. To reduce time to market and costs, equipment from former WeylChem Griesheim site, which has closed, will be used.
“This decision is a logical step in advancing the strategic repositioning of the group,” WeylChem added. “After successful restructure of the marketing and sales organisation under the WeylChem International umbrella, it is now the optimum time to continue optimising the product and technology portfolio.”
Separately, WeylChem has announced that a multi-disciplinary project team has commenced the work on implementing the new SAP S/4 Hana system at all company sites in order to improve customer service. This began in January.
