DKSH buys Dols

The Performance Materials business unit of Swiss-based market expansion services giant DKSH has acquired Dols International, a speciality chemicals distributor which is based at Roermond, Netherlands, and active throughout the Benelux region. Terms were not disclosed, but it is known that Dols has sales of €9 million/year and about 200 clients.

Dols’ products include pigments, binders and additives for use in paints, coatings, adhesives, plastics and construction applications. Its in-house formulation laboratory will be converted to a DKSH innovation centre, thus bringing the global total to 40. The management team and employees will all transfer.

DKSH said that this is in line with its accelerated acquisition strategy, which has seen numerous buys for Performance Materials, including speciality chemicals distributors Zeus Química in Spain and Portugal in 2014, and Andreas Jennow in the Nordic region in 2015. The business unit, which offers distribution and sourcing services for the specialty chemicals, personal care, pharmaceutical and food and beverage industries, is DKSH’s only one with a distribution business both in Europe and Asia
