Azelis buys Bronson and Jacobs China

Azelis has further strengthened its Asian personal care business by acquiring Bronson and Jacobs Hong Kong and its fully owned subsidiary in Shanghai from Ixom. The deal, for which terms were not disclosed, is expected to close by the end of the year.

Bronson and Jacobs China specialises in the distribution of personal care ingredients, mainly for skin care, for various global principals. It has offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Guangzhou, the latter also including a personal care laboratory.

This follows on from the acquisition of CosBond, a speciality chemicals and food ingredients distributor headquartered in Hong Kong and with facilities in China, in April. Laurent Nataf, CEO and president of Azelis Asia Pacific, said: “The portfolio of Bronson and Jacobs China is highly complementary to CosBond’s and Azelis’ and will enhance our lateral value chain in this segment.”

The deal is also described as consistent with Azelis’ strategy of complementing organic growth with strategic acquisitions. This year, it has also acquired: PT Primaditha Jaya Mandiri in the Indonesian food market; S. Zhaveri Pharmakem, in India’s pharmaceutical market; and, most recently, Orokia, a speciality chemicals distributor active in multiple market segments in Israel, including agrochemicals, animal nutrition, personal care, food, pharmaceuticals and industrial chemicals.
