Azelis has agreed to acquire Chemiplas Agencies, an Auckland-based distributor of speciality chemicals, plastic raw materials and ingredients in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. This is expected to close before the end of Q1 2023, after customary closing conditions are fulfilled.

The company said that this significantly expands its footprint and accelerates its growth in Asia Pacific. Chemiplas employs over 100 at six offices and has over 200 global, regional and local strategic principals, and around 1,900 customers. It also has two food application laboratories in Auckland and Melbourne.

Shortly before this, Azelis India had announced the opening of its first Asia Pacific Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare application laboratory in India. This will serve a range of applications from dosage forms to taste- and odour-masking, and solubility and stability enhancement for the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical markets.
