Evonik expands in Asian alkoxides
Evonik has begun construction of a new production plant for alkoxides on Jurong Island in Singapore. Described as a “mid double-digit million-euro investment” this will complement sites in Germany, Argentina and the US, supplying the growing Asia-Pacific market when it comes onstream at the end of 2024. The aim is to achieve zero Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions.
The company said that this came in response to growing demand for alkoxide catalysts, which are primarily used in biodiesel production and in synthesis applications in the pharmaceutical and agricultural industries. They are also expected to play a growing part in the chemical recycling of PET.

FMC Corporation has agreed to sell its Global Specialty Solutions (GSS) business to Envu for $350 million, subject to closing working capital adjustment. The deal is expected to close by year-end 2024, subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions.
