Inovyn launches bio-attributed epichlorohydrin
Ineos subsidiary Inovyn has become the world’s first commercial producer of bio-attributed epichlorohydrin from renewable feedstock. Branded Reodrin, this is made at a site in Tavaux, France. Applications are expected in sectors including composites for wind turbines, wastewater treatment and lightweight coatings for electric vehicles.
The new material uses a second-generation, renewable feedstock that eliminates the use of energy crops and palm materials, thus using 99% less land and water than conventional feedstocks. It is also RSB-certified as enabling a greenhouse gas saving of almost 70% compared to fossil- and palm-based epichlorohydrin.
