International Process Plants (IPP), which buys and sells industrial plants and equipment, has acquired Henkel’s detergent plant in Lomazzo, Italy, in partnership with Maynards, a specialist in industrial liquidation auction services. The plant, which sits on a 4.4-hectare site with 43,000 m2 of building space, had been scheduled for closure, despite the Lombardy Region’s attempts to work with Henkel to save it.
IPP is now seeking buyers for the manufacturing assets while the land is slated for redevelopment into a mixed-use residential and commercial estate. All of the equipment and machinery will be resold for reuse, while the remaining materials will be recycled, with about 98% being repurposed as part of the two firms’ environmental commitments.
