Lonza launches AI-enabled route scouting
Lonza has launched its AI-enabled route scouting service offering for small molecules, which combines AI-enabled computer-aided synthesis planning technology from Elsevier operation Reaxys with its own process R&D expertise and supply chain databases. This aims to streamline synthetic route identification.
“The complexity of small molecule APIs entering the development pipeline is steadily increasing, and the intricate structures of modern drug candidates are driving an increase in the number of synthetic steps required to produce them,” the company noted. This adds up to more raw materials and longer lead times, often increasing the time and cost of developing an effective synthesis.
