Syensqo and Singapore start-up Allozymes have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop ‘advanced biosolutions’ for home and personal care, particularly skin care. This will combine Allozymes’ ultra-high throughput microfluidics platform for the engineering of enzymes and microbes with Syensqo’s application and market access expertise.
Syensqo has also since completed the acquisition of a controlling stake in Azerys, a Moroccan specialist in rosemary extraction. Azerys produces a 100% natural plant-based, non-GMO preservative range based on rosemary extract, which can replace chemical food additives.
The company said that, like its other recent acquisitions, such as South Korean ceramides specialist Jin Young Bio and Bayer’s global seed coatings business, and investments such as in Suanfarma, “it aligns with the strategic focus of Syensqo’s Renewable Materials and Biotechnology Growth Platform”.
