Mitsubishi Chemical subsidiary Gelest has marked the groundbreaking for its latest production facility, the eighth in all, on a brownfield site at its headquarters in Morrisville, Pennsylvania. This will enhance its capabilities in applications such as microelectronics, medical devices, advanced thermal coatings and mobility, the firm stated.

Mitsubishi Chemical company Gelest, which specialises in silicones, organosilanes, metal-organics and acrylate monomers, has agreed a strategic collaboration with Lam Research, a supplier of wafer fabrication equipment and services to the semiconductor industry, and Entegris, the global leader in electronic materials for semiconductors.

The US subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical (MCC) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Gelest from private equity firm New Mountain Capital, which had owned the firm since 2017. The deal should be completed within 2020, subject to regulatory review and approval. Terms were not disclosed.
