Investment in Tanasote plant

Octowood, a part of the Sweden’s Rundvirke Industrier Group, has invested in a new treatment plant using Arxada’s wood preservative, Tanasote. The company is one of Europe’s largest creosote treaters but wanted to offer an additional long-term wood protection option for pine used in fencing and power lines.  

No biocide migration from leather: Study

A study by the independent Institute for Material Testing has confirmed an earlier report by the FILK Institute that biocides used in the preservation of leather intermediates do not migrate out of the finished leather articles, according to Lanxess, which commissioned it.

Two combine on antifouling

Swedish biotech I-Tech and Lanxess have combined their respective marine antifouling technologies for the first time, with what they claim to be promising results. This follows tests on 35 paint formulations with a 12-month lifespan in static testing environments in the Caribbean, Eastern North Sea, the North Mediterranean and Sea of Japan.

Vink Chemicals makes two buys

Germany’s Vink Chemicals has in short order acquired ISP Biochema Schwaben, and several ranges of technical biocides and oil and gas additives from Schülke & Mayr.
