Ascensus buys Wychem

Ascensus Specialties, a provider of speciality materials for life sciences and advanced technology, has followed up on previous acquisitions by buying fine chemicals manufacturer Wychem from private equity firm Aurelius, which had acquired it in 2016. The company employs 25 people at its site in the UK.

New owner for Ascensus

New York-based private investment New Mountain Capital has acquired Ascensus Specialties from its previous majority owner, Wind Point Partners. Terms were not disclosed. Wind Point will continue to invest in the company through a special purpose vehicle raised in association with the transaction.

Ascensus buys Strem Chemicals

Ascensus has completed the acquisition of Strem Chemicals, bringing together two major suppliers of catalogue chemicals, mainly for life science, microelectronic and other speciality applications. Strem CEO Ephraim Honig will become chief science and innovation officer and will oversee the combined businesses’ R&D function.

Ascensus to buy Callery

Ascensus Specialties, which claims to be the largest global producer of dry and liquid sodium borohydride (SBH), has agreed to acquire Callery from private equity firm, Edgewater Capital.
