Kemira expands on three fronts

Kemira and IFF have completed the construction of a renewable polymer plant as part of their strategic cooperation in providing alternatives to fossil-based products. This is based on IFF’s Designed Enzymatic Biomaterial (DEB) platform technology and is located at the operator Chemigate’s Finnamyl biorefinery in Kokemäki, Finland.

Clariant completes cosmetic buy

Clariant has completed the previously announced acquisition of Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, a German-based maker of cosmetics and personal care ingredients, from IFF. The deal is based on an enterprise value of $810 million, subject to customary net debt and working capital adjustments.

Lanxess to acquire IFF’s microbial control business

Lanxess has signed a corresponding agreement to acquire the microbial control business of International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) for $1.3 billion or 9.6x EBITA. The deal should be completed in Q2 2022, following a carve-out process and subject to regulatory approvals. This is the firm’s second largest ever buy, just ahead of the recently completed acquisition of Emerald Kalama.

DuPont board approves N&B split

DuPont’s board of directors has approved the separation of DuPont’s Nutrition & Biosciences (N&B) business through an exchange offer whereby stockholders can elect to tender DuPont shares for those of N&B on terms to be announced. This process is expected to be completed by 1 February.
