South African chemicals and energy producer Sasol has formally announced the opening of its new alkoxylation plant at the Nanjing Jiangbei New Materials High-Tech Park, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attending by company executives, diplomats, government officials and others.

Ten workers were killed in an accident at a pharmaceutical intermediates and APIs plant in China’s Shandong province on 15 April, it has emerged. This was the second fatal industrial accident at a chemicals-related plant in China within the space of a month.
