Castor bean projected extended

Arkema, BASF, Jayant Agro-Organics, an Indian castor oil specialist, and civil society body Solidaridad are to extend their ongoing Pragati project in sustainable castor bean production for a further three years in order to reach more Indian farmers and end users. In particular, it aims to double the number of farmers participating in India’s Gujarat state to 7,000.

WeylChem to close Griesheim site

WeylChem has announced plans to close its historic site at Frankfurt-Griesheim as soon as possible. It is seeking to find roles of the 134 employees, 21 of them temporary, within its other sites in the Rhine-Main area at Höchst, Fechenheim and Wiesbaden.

Envigo and Covance in asset swap

Envigo’s Research Models Services business is to acquire the Research Products business of LabCorp’s Covance subsidiary, becoming a pure-play research models and services business. As part of the same transaction, Covance is also acquiring Envigo’s non-clinical research services business, expanding its services in that field.

Authorities close China blast park

Repercussions are continuing from the blast at the Chenjiagang Chemical Industry Park in Xiangshui, China, on 21 March, which killed 78 people and injured over 600 more.

UPL takes Arysta from renamed Platform

 

Indian agrochemicals firm UPL has completed the acquisition of Arysta LifeScince from the Florida-based speciality chemicals conglomerate Platform Specialty Products, in a $4.2 billion deal that was signed in July 2018. This followed the last regulatory approvals.
