Levaco sets up in Brazil

Levaco Chemicals, a manufacturer of speciality chemicals and additives based at Chempark Leverkusen in Germany, has completed setting up a commcercial subsidiary in Brazil. The creation of a sales and logistics hub there “is already in full swing”, the company said.

Levaco, a Lanxess and Tanatex spin-off, has been already been active for several years in Brazil and sees particularly strong potential in the agrochemicals and food chemicals sectors. It has now installed a warehouse in São Paolo in order to guarantee imports and make deliveries more efficiently.

Axplora, Flamma invest in flow chemistry

CDMOs Axplora and Flamma have both made announcements about investments in flow chemistry, with the former completing the installation of a new cGMP pilot unit at Leverkusen, Germany, and the latter investing about $2 million in flow, starting with the installation of a new suite of equipment from Microinnova at Chignolo D’Isola, Italy.

Two dead, many injured in Chempark explosion

Two workers have been confirmed dead after an explosion at Chempark Leverkusen in Germany at around 09.40 on 27 July and a subsequent fire in the tank farm of the Bürrig disposal centre that sent a blanket of smoke across the city and was heard 40 kilometres away.
